SCREENPLAY COMPARISON

DIRECTIONS:   You have chosen a GENRE for your screenplay.  Now you need to understand what makes that genre work.

  1. Working within your group come up with a list of 10 different TITLES that fit the genre in which you are choosing to work.

  2. Go to IMDB.COM and look up the titles

  3. Once you have found the title, look at the tagline and write it down.

  4. Each group member will select one of the titles and find the SCREENPLAY online and read the entire script (which will take you about 25 minutes, you lazy things!)

  5. Each group member will create a BEAT SHEET for the screenplay they are reading.  Include, at the bottom of your paper, the link to the screenplay.

  6. After you have completed a MINIMUM of twelve titles and taglines (aka loglines) each of the group members will choose 3 of the titles and write a two page essay explaining how the films fit the genre in which you are writing.

  7. So, what the Project Manager will turn in bound in a single folder is

    1. List of 10 titles and loglines from films that fit your genre.

    2. One 2 page (minimum) essay per group member, typed, double-spaced, describing how the selected films fit the genre.  Each group member must choose three titles that the other group members are NOT using.

    3. One Beat Sheet from each group member for one of the selected screenplays.

    4. This assignment is due on Monday, 3/23.
